Building a new aircraft is a complex task. The Dufour Aerospace family has been growing, and today we're announcing our senior advisory team. We're proud to have their support.
Dufour Aerospace has significant R&D projects in progress with ETH Zürich, Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and ZHAW. These projects include developing the control system for our subscale aircraft, and extensive CFD simulations of the aircraft behavior in all flight conditions.
The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm recently performed a complete independent performance review of our design, with very positive results. For example, they confirmed the aircraft's stability and at least 10% power safety margin across all modes of flight and the conversion corridor. This validates our approach at Dufour Aerospace of updating proven aircraft concepts with the latest technology.
Furthermore, we have now defined an intensive R&D collaboration project with ZHAW (Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften) to further develop Dufour’s tilt-wing aircraft propulsion, control systems, and human-machine interfaces. Aerodynamic engineering PhD student Federico Barra will lead this project at the ZHAW Centre for Aviation. He will build on experience from his MSc thesis, “Flight control systems development of a tilt-rotor model for real-time ﬂight simulation” - F. Barra, G. Guglieri, P. Capone.
