The Aero2, our first product on the market, transports your critical payload of 40 kg (88 lbs) over a distance of 400 km (266 NM) - or much more with less payload. No runway needed - the Aero2 takes off and lands like a helicopter, but it is as fast, efficient and safe as an airplane. Our hybrid-electric propulsion system and in-house flight computer provide you with a maximum of efficiency and flexibility.
Dufour Aerospace has pioneered the tilt-wing drone. A tilt-wing comes with built-in efficiency and safety. Taking-off and landing like a helicopter and flies like an airplane - you don’t need a runway and don’t have to rely on crowded and expensive infrastructure. This also means no or only little transfer time. Also, our tilt-wings have only few moving parts and come with very low operating costs compared to helicopter-type drones. We are among the very few in the world that demonstrated full transition and full flight envelope with a large scale autonomous aircraft.
Dufour Aerospace has designed a serial hybrid-electric engine for the Aero2 drone. The reason is simple: simplicity and flexibility. You do not want to exchange batteries, rely on expensive ground charging infrastructure — instead, you want to go far and turn around quickly. Spending less on fuel — 90% of efficiency compared to 40% with conventional combustion engines — while reducing your carbon footprint does not hurt. All of this is where our hybrid-electric propulsion system helps you reach your targets. It is also easy to maintain, allowing for back-to-back missions and therefore let the drone do what it is supposed to do: fly for hours.
The Dufour platform is built in-house. Our drones do not come with an off-the-shelve flight controller, but with our built-from-scratch in-house controls stack, both from a hardware and software perspective. Why? If we want to be your trusted partner, we need to know exactly what is governing your autonomous drone, every second of the flight. Our aircraft management system allows for easy tracking of component’s lifetime, remote updating of firmware and compliance with the regulations that apply, to make your life easier. In short: Exactly as it should be in professional aviation.
